Third Year

A selection of my work from the third year of my Architecture degree.

In my final year of my degree I looked into monasteries as a form of settlement and the relationship of cities with the landscape. Monasteries throughout Britain were dissolved by King Henry VIII in the early 16th century.

Muchelney Abbey Pavilion Design: Somerset

Muchelney (the site where my final project is located), is situated within the Somerset Levels, an agricultural flood-land which floods annually. Muchelney is located on higher ground, so when floods occur the site is above water level forming an island. Muchelney Abbey is located within this ‘great island’ as well as a contemporary village which grew around the Abbey.
